Our Directors
After visiting Livonia in the summer of 2021, Rabbi Tzemach and Devora decided to dedicate their lives to others and move down to join to local Jewish community of Livonia. Moving from Brooklyn, New York, Rabbi & Mrs. Shemtov, along with their little girl Mussia look forward to working together with the Jewish community to promote Jewish awareness and observance of traditional Judaism in a modern world.
Rabbi Tzemach Shemtov
Rabbi Tzemach was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio where his parents directed the chabad center since 1987.
He studied in rabbinical schools in Detroit, Morristown and New York.
In 2020, he was ordained by Rabbi Yitzchak Yeruslavsky Chief Rabbi of Kiryat Malachi, Israel.
Rabbi Tzemach had always been active from a young age volunteering with outreach programs during his Yeshiva years. As a student, he would spend his Friday’s visiting Jewish shopkeepers sharing with them a Jewish thought or the chance to put on Tefilin. As his studies grew so did his commitment to enriching the lives of Jewish people. As an intern Rabbi, he provided educational programs and holiday events for the Jews in Montana and Nanaimo, Canada.
Mrs. Devora Shemtov
Devora grew up in Paris, France where her parents serve as directors of Chabad in the center of the French capital.
After graduating high school in Paris, she studied at the Beis Chana Women's seminary in Tzefat, Israel and Beis Rivkah Seminary and New York studying Teaching and Education, and graduated majoring in Judaic studies.
Devora dedicated herself to Jewish community service in various countries including Germany, Israel, France and USA. Her passion for teaching led her to teach in Paris, in the local Jewish high school where she herself got her education as a young girl.
